The applications of graphite in this industry are widespread. It’s very high heat
conductivity, it’s resistance to high temperature and chemical attack, it’s electric
conductivity are amongst the most important properties making graphite a material of
choice.
Static mixers
ChemSys manufactures static inline mixers from graphite in a proprietary design. These
are adaptable in diameter and length to customer needs. Typical diameters range from 50
to 200 mm, lengths between 50 and 500 mm. Mixers can easily be dis- and reassembled
for cleaning.
Electrodes for electrochemical reduction and synthesis
Climate change mitigation directs process technologies away from using thermal methodes based
on fossile fuels. Electricity being the energy of choice the attractivity of electrochemical
process routes increases.
In cooperation with large players in the chemical industry ChemSys has acquired more
than a decade of experience in the selection of the most suitable grades from different
graphite manufacturers, combining adequate electric conductivity, suitable small pore sizes
and low impurity levels and high mechanical strength to manufacture large numbers of
electrodes from small to m²-sizes.
Mechanical seals and pump elements
An extremely low friction coefficient, excellent chemical resistance and a wide range of
operating temperatures between below 230 °C to between 450 and 650 °C make graphite
a material of choice for such applications.
ChemSys manufactures such components with single-digit µm precision.
Whenever gas tightness is required impregnation with either organic or inorganic materials
from resins to glass-like materials and metals are possible.
Granular graphite as catalyst carrier
Their chemical inertness, surface roughness, microporosity, electric conductivity and heat
resistance make granular graphite an excellent carrier for various catalysts.
The narrow-band granular graphite manufactured by ChemSys enables volumes with low
pressure drop.
